ついにRustの深掘りがシリーズ化してしまいました。R&Dチームの齋藤です。 先週からTwitterを始めてみました（@aznhe21）。

さて、本日、日本時間4/12（金）にRust 1.34がリリースされました。 この記事ではRust 1.34での変更点を詳しく紹介します。 なお、この記事は公式リリースノートをベースに、意訳・追記をしています。

個人的に注目する変更点を「ピックアップ」としてまとめました。 全ての変更点を網羅したリストは変更点リストをご覧ください。

TryFrom/TryIntoが安定化

多くの人が待ち望んでいた機能でしょう。 これによって「失敗するかもしれない変換」が標準のトレイトを用いて書けるようになります。 では、これはどういう場合に便利なのでしょうか？

これまではconvert::From/convert::Intoで型変換が出来ました。

似たトレイトとしてstr::FromStrがあり、一般的にはstr::parseを通して使われています。 これには関連型としてErrが定義されており、例えばIPアドレスの文字列をnet::IpAddrに変換することが出来ました。

ただし、str::FromStrではその名の通り文字列からしか変換出来ず、任意の型では変換が出来ませんでした。 これを実現するためのトレイトがconvert::TryFromです。

また、今までconvert::Fromを実装していた型もtry_into()で変換が出来るようになりました。 ここで、try_into()はResult<T, convert::Infallible>という型を返します。 このconvert::Infallibleはnever型（!型、あり得ない型）が安定化されるまでの繋ぎで、 never型が安定化された際にはconvert::Infallibleは!のエイリアスとなります。

ちなみにこのconvert::Infallible、error::Errorを実装していないせいで地味に使いづらく、 関数の戻り値をfailure::Fallible<T>にしたときにtry_into()?のようにして値を返せません。 となると、しばらくは「convert::Fromを実装している型にはinto()を使い、 convert::TryFromを実装している型にはtry_into()を使う」という 使い分けが必要になりそうです。

iter::from_fn/iter::successorsが追加

iter::from_fnではFnMut() -> Option<T>なクロージャを使ってIterator<T>を生成出来ます。 これによって、イテレータは下記のように実装出来るようになります （ただし、このイテレータを別の構造体に保持したい場合などもあるため、 再利用性の観点からこのような使い方は出来るだけ避けるべきです）。

iter::successorsはIterator::foldの反対のようなもので、与えられた引数から順番に値を生成します。

usize/isize以外の整数型にもアトミック型が追加

atomic::AtomicI8やatomic::AtomicU64など、ほとんどの整数型（u128/i128以外の整数型）にアトミック型が追加されました。 ただし32ビットマシンではatomic::AtomicU64が使えないなどの制約があります。

これにより、整数型でatomicクレートを使う必要が無くなりました。

符号付き整数型にもNonZeroが追加

これまでは符号無し整数型のみにNonZeroが用意されていましたが、これによって全ての整数型でNonZero型が使えるようになりました。

cargoで代替レジストリが使えるようになった

オプティムのようにRustを本格的に使っている企業では外に出せないクレートがあると思いますが、 現状その様なクレートはgitで参照するしかありません。 しかし、gitによるパッケージ指定ではセマンティックバージョンによる管理が出来ないなどの不都合が出てきます。

今回代替レジストリ（Alternative Registries）がサポートされたことで 社内版crates.ioのようなものが使えるようになり、パッケージ管理がやりやすくなります。

ただし、今のところレジストリ用サーバー実装が存在しないため、まだ使うことは出来なさそうです *1。

Any型の変数からany::TypeIdを取得出来る。

Error::type_id

Error型の変数からany::TypeIdを取得出来る。

手動でこのメソッドを実装することによって脆弱性を引き起こす可能性があったため、Rust 1.34.2で削除された。

atomic::Atomic{I8,I16,I32,I64}

atomic::AtomicIsizeのi8/i16/i32/i64版。 各整数型でアトミック演算が行えるターゲットでのみ使用出来る。

atomic::Atomic{U8,U16,U32,U64}

atomic::AtomicUsizeのu8/u16/u32/u64版。 各整数型でアトミック演算が行えるターゲットでのみ使用出来る。

convert::Infallible

convert::Fromを実装する型においてconvert::TryFromを使った際のErrorの型。 never型（!型、あり得ない型）が安定化された際に!のエイリアスとなる。

convert::TryFrom

失敗するかもしれない変換のためのトレイト。

convert::TryInto

失敗するかもしれない変換のためのトレイト。実装するトレイトとしてはTryFromを使うべきである。

iter::from_fn

関数からiter::Iteratorを生成する。

iter::successors

初期値か前回返した値を元に、関数によってiter::Iteratorを生成する。

num::NonZero{I8,I16,I32,I64,I128,Isize}

num::NonZero系の U8/U16/U32/ U64/U128/Usizeの符号付き版。

slice::sort_by_cached_key

slice::sort_by_keyと同じだが、キーをキャッシュすることにより、 コストの高いキー関数を使う場合において高速化が期待出来る。 また、キーはキャッシュされるため、キー関数は要素ごとに一度しか呼ばれない。

プロパティにアクセスするだけなどの単純なキー関数ではslice::sort_by_keyの方が基本的には高速である。

str::escape_debug

char::escape_debugを使って各文字をエスケープする。 つまり、Debugトレイトによって特殊文字をエスケープする。

str::escape_default

char::escape_defaultを使って各文字をエスケープする。 つまり、C++11を始めとした言語のようなエスケープ（\tや\"など）を使用する。

str::escape_unicode

char::escape_unicodeを使って各文字をエスケープする。 つまり、\u{0000}のようなスタイルでエスケープする。

str::split_ascii_whitespace

ASCIIのホワイトスペースによって文字列を分割する。 Unicodeに定義されている「ホワイトスペース文字」で分割する場合はstr::split_whitespaceを使う。

std

Instant::checked_{add,sub}

Instantへの足し算・引き算を、オーバーフローを考慮して行う。

SystemTime::checked_{add,sub}

SystemTimeへの足し算・引き算を、オーバーフローを考慮して行う。

さいごに

ようやくTryFromが入ってきてパース系の関数が書きやすくなりました。 std::future::Futureが1.35に入る噂もあるということで早くも1.35が待ちきれないですが、 取りあえず私は今までスタブで入っていたTryFromを消し去る作業に入ります。

オプティムではレガシーを消し去ることが好きなエンジニアを募集しています。
